I have very fond memories of staying with Helga and Wally in the nineteen seventies. It was my first meeting with Helga, but she welcomed us into her home and made sure we felt comfortable. She was a lovely, kind, considerate, hostess. In the days that followed I found her such a delightful, interesting person who not only treated me as a friend but also educated me with snippets of useful information that she thought might be helpful to me. It was thanks to Helga that my first kitchen had European features that were not used in Australia then, but are now common in Australian kitchens. In March this year I had the utmost pleasure with meeting up with Helga again after a 50 year hiatus. I was reminded once again of how delightful she was, and I sorely regretted that I had missed out on many more encounters with this absolute treasure of an enchanting lady, who eyes still twinkled with a hint of mischievousness, that made her seem years younger, than her age.
Deepest sympathy to Walter, Raymond, Henry, and Isaac from Diane Lucas (nee Albert) Tom Lucas, and Christopher Dean who was also enchanted by Helga’s delightful personality at our March meeting.
