To my Australian family, My deepest thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with you all as you gather to honor Nana’s life. I will always remember her as a kind and welcoming presence during my time in Australia. Even though I was from the other side of the world, she contributed to making me feel like I belonged right here, part of this family. She had a way of making me feel at home whenever I was around—especially with her sweet treats. As a French girl, I can assure you that good food and kindness go straight to the heart, and Nana knew exactly how to deliver both. In French, we sometimes talk about having a “family of the heart”—a family you choose, or one that chooses you. That’s what you’ve all been for me, and Nana was an important part of that. Her kindness and warmth were a reflection of the love that surrounds this family, and I’m so grateful to have experienced it. With all my love from France, Pauline
